When the weather started to warm, I started to feel my spring itch to wear dresses. I have always been one to love dresses in the spring and summer. They are so easy and when its hot out, it feels like the perfect thing to wear. Unfortunately, while nursing, a lot of my normal summer dresses didn’t work and so I began my search to find nursing friendly summer dresses. I am happy to share my finds with you – some that are hanging in my closet and some are on my own wishlist as well.
Breastfeeding Emmie has been one of the most wonderful joys of motherhood thus far. I am so thankful that we have had a positive experience throughout our journey. We have exclusively nursed for four months now! I know that although it can be hard that it’s a special time between Emmie and I that I will always think of fondly. With my extended maternity leave until she’s 6.5 months old, we have a little more time before I have to step up my pumping game. At four months, we’re enjoying our walks, our tummy time, and snuggles and giggles with mom and dad.
Since I thought I’d be going back to work for the month of May, I had started pumping occasionally to start a stock pile as well as help regulate my supply. After a few weeks, I found that I needed an organization system for our freezer – I have included the clear bins I bought down below!
If nursing Emmie (and quite frankly just being a mother in general) has taught me anything, it is to give myself grace. Grace because feeding a little one every 2-3 hours (during the day) is hard work – and even harder when the world isn’t very welcoming to nursing moms (and especially when your baby is born right before a pandemic!) When I see other moms, I now feel this connection with them that is unspoken. I like to look and smile at them, and pass on a little “You can do this – you’re amazing!”. After I had Emmie, I made it a goal to always support fellow mamasĀ because although it is the BEST job in the world, it is hard! I am SO thankful for the opportunity to raise, feed, and love on our little Emmie Mae.
Down below are some of the nursing friendly dresses I currently own or are on my wishlist. Most of them have button fronts (preferably the larger buttons because no one has time for small buttons when baby is hungry) and some are super stretchy that you can just pull down. In addition to nursing friendly dresses, I’ve included some of my favorite products that have made our breastfeeding journey go smoothly and a few things to help when they don’t!
