And just like that, we’re in the month of July already. Every year when July hits, it always reminds me that summer is halfway through. For our family we celebrate my brother and I’s birthday, as well as Tony and I’s anniversary in July which makes the month fly by. July feels like this middle ground between summer starting, and the hints of school starting the month following. To be honest, its normally when I get the little pit in my stomach nervous for the new school year as the routine of teaching feels so far and hard to remember. This year is a little different too with our sweet Emmie. Due to COVID, I didn’t have to go back to work as expected during the month of May so by the time I go back to work, I will have had a nearly seven month maternity leave. I do not take this lightly and am so thankful for the uninterrupted time I have had to spend with here.
Back on topic Meagan. This July I am making it a goal to keep high expectations for myself while also enjoying my time with Emmie and with Tony working from home. Sounds reasonable right? As many of you could relate, if I share my goals with you, I am more likely to achieve them or make larger steps towards them – hence the blog post. Next month I’ll check in, see how I did, and create new goals for myself in August.
Goal 1: Print more photos of Emmie and start an album or scrapbook. When I went home a few weeks ago, we went through the scrapbooks my mom made of my brother and I. It was so much fun to go through the photos and see what I looked like at Emmie’s age. My mom had written little captions next to each photo which brought them to life. It made me think about how I’d like to start something similar for Emmie and get some photos off my camera roll and into real life.
Goal 2: Set up our gallery wall in the hallway. This goal/projects is paired with number one, but as a photographer I need to print more photos out for around our house. For the last three years, I’ve had a farmhouse sign in our hallway but I’m ready to elevate the area with either crisp black or brass frames and photos of our family. More on this later!
Goal 3: Have a friend or family member host a Beautycounter party or “pop-up”. If you’ve been following along, you know that I just started my Beautycounter business last month (you can read more about that here). I am thrilled to share my love for clean beauty with others and it is fun to see how much I’ve already connected with friends on BC and the products they use and love! I am pumped about the host rewards for this month (seriously they are amazing) and I hope to meet more clean beauty friends. If you think you’d be interested in getting your friends together (zoom, facebook, or in person) and earn free and discounted products, feel free to reach out and we can chat to see if its something you’d like to do. If you’re interested in learning more about Beautycounter, you can sign up for my newsletter here (I promise not to spam you).
Goal 4: Continue designing and start creating Emmie’s playroom. I am really excited about this one. So far, I have been able to keep an okay balance between baby toys that are exciting to Emmie while also not letting them takeover the house. Now don’t get me wrong – there are days that baby toys and books are EVERYWHERE. We have three bedrooms on our main level and I’m thinking of creating our second room/office/future baby #2’s room into a playroom for now. We are lucky to have a big space in our basement as well but for now, it would be nicer to have a space for Emmie to play where we don’t have to deal with steps. Anyways, there are more details coming to the blog next week with a design board and I am SO excited. Can you say project?!
Goal 5: Moving my body 3 times a week. Emmie and I have been on daily walks for the past few months but I’m looking to get back into moving my body in slow and steady ways. I did mommy and me yoga during the month of May but I’m looking to step it up a bit. I’ve subscribed to Barre 3 online classes and I’m looking forward to getting back some strength I lost during pregnancy.
Thanks for sticking around and reading about my goals and thoughts for July. I’ll see you in a month for August’s goals and to check in with how I did in July. Who is with me? Leave a goal (or more) down below and we’ll keep one another acountable!
