Within the last month or so, Emmie is showing interest in her toys. She is now reaching for them, watching them, and interacting with them to see what they do. As a parent, this is such a joy to watch her learn during playtime especially as a teacher who encourages play in my own classroom! As I see how fast the past five months have already gone, I can only imagine how quick time will continue to move. Although I want time to stand still, I can also picture Emmie playing with her toys and taking assisted steps with her rattan stroller. For right now, the playroom is functioning as our office and honestly I don’t use it as an office as often as I thought I would. I would rather use it as a space for Emmie to play and to store her toys as she needs more space over time.
This room has been a multipurpose spot for a while, especially with Tony currently working from home so I am looking forward to cleaning, organizing, and bringing the room new life! The first step is to paint the entire room white like we did Emmie’s nursery. Next is the part I’m super excited for. We are going to do an accent wall but instead of doing wallpaper, I have chosen a large scale stencil that we can easily paint over when the room changes to another nursery down the road. We are switching out the standard light with a woven pendant.
As she grows, we’ll add the kitchen and little table but for the time being, an eight-cube organizer with canvas bins will store Emmie’s toys while also providing more space for books. I am excited to add to this design over time and to start painting and stenciling in the next month or so! Stay tuned and check out instagram for more updates!
